Age Calculator — input your values

What does this everyday calculator do?

The age calculator tells you exactly how old you are in years, months and days, and converts that into weeks, hours and minutes so you can see your age in whatever unit makes sense.

It also works out when your next birthday falls and counts the days until then. The calculation handles leap years and month-length differences automatically.

Formula and variables

Age = today − date of birth (calendar-adjusted)

Ages are 'completed' units — a baby is 0 years old until their first birthday.

SymbolMeaning
YearsCompleted calendar years
MonthsFull months past the last birthday
DaysDays past the last month mark

Worked example

Someone born on June 15, 1995, checking their age on August 1, 2026.

  1. Difference in years: 2026 − 1995 = 31 years.
  2. Birthday passed: yes (June 15 < Aug 1).
  3. Months since birthday: 1 month (Jun 15 → Jul 15), days: 17 (Jul 15 → Aug 1).

Answer: Age = 31 years, 1 month, 17 days.

Tips and common mistakes

Tips

  • For legal ages, use the exact date — the day of your birthday counts as the day you turn that age.
  • Leap-year babies (Feb 29) celebrate their birthday on Feb 28 or Mar 1 in non-leap years, depending on your jurisdiction.
  • Use the total-days figure for medical or insurance questionnaires that ask age in days or weeks.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Counting the day of birth as the first day of life — age is measured from birth, so a newborn is 0 days old.
  • Forgetting that 2026 is not a leap year when computing February birthdays.
  • Using 365 days for 'a year' — calendar years vary between 365 and 366 days.

Age Calculator — frequently asked questions

How is age calculated?

The calculator subtracts your date of birth from today's date using calendar arithmetic — counting completed years, months and days.

Do I turn a year older at midnight on my birthday?

Legally, yes — your age increases on the date of your birthday itself, and for most purposes the time of day is not relevant.

How old am I in days?

The age calculator shows total days (and weeks, hours and minutes) since your date of birth. That's simply the elapsed time between the two dates.

How do leap years affect my age?

The calculator counts actual calendar days, so leap years add one extra day to your total-days count, but your age in years is unaffected.

Can I use this to calculate someone else's age?

Yes — enter any date of birth to find the age of a child, parent, pet or anyone else.

What day of the week was I born on?

The result includes the weekday of your date of birth, such as 'a Thursday'.
