What does this everyday calculator do?
The time calculator adds or subtracts a number of hours and minutes from a starting clock time, converting everything into minutes first so the arithmetic is exact.
It handles base-60 carrying automatically: results that pass midnight roll over to the next day, and results that go before midnight roll back to the previous day, with the day shift stated in the answer.
Formula and variables
A full day is 24 × 60 = 1,440 minutes, and one hour is 60 minutes.

Worked example
Add 3 hours and 45 minutes to 10:30 AM.
- Start: 10 × 60 + 30 = 630 minutes.
- Amount: 3 h × 60 + 45 min = 225 minutes.
- Result: 630 + 225 = 855 minutes.
- 855 ÷ 60 = 14 hours and 15 minutes past midnight, which is 2:15 PM, same day.
Answer: 10:30 AM plus 3 hours 45 minutes is 2:15 PM.

- To subtract across midnight, the calculator rolls back automatically — subtracting 30 minutes from 00:20 gives 23:50 the previous day.
- Minutes and hours are separate inputs, so entering 90 minutes works as 1 hour and 30 minutes of arithmetic in the background.
- Use 24-hour thinking for overnight shifts: 11 PM is 23:00, and 6 AM the next day is 6:00 with a +1 day shift.

- Treating time as base-10: 1.5 hours is 90 minutes, not 1 hour and 5 minutes.
